Reinke's Edema is swelling in the vocal folds. The individual's voice is muffled and rough.

Reinke's Edema

Reinke's edema, which is thought to be the main cause of long-term smoking and excessive use of the voice, is explained by edema in the reinke space on the upper surface of the lamina propria.

 

Reinke's edema can be observed in both vocal folds. The frequency of individuals' voices decreases due to edema. Individuals have difficulty in ascending to high frequencies and speak at a low pitch. In addition, the voices of individuals; it is rough and rough.

 

In the intervention of Reinke's edema, the edema is surgically removed and then voice therapy is applied.
